A state web site is of the form www.state.(state name abbreviation).us. For example, www.state.az.us will access the state of Arizona web site and various law enforcement agencies may then be selected from a list of services offered.

County Sites

County law enforcement web sites can be accessed in the same manner by going to the county web site and selecting the sheriff or other law enforcement agency form the list of departments or agencies provided. A county web site is of the form www.co.(county name).(state abbreviation).us. For example, the Pima County Sheriff Department can be accessed using www.co.pima.az.us and then selecting the appropriate agency from the list provided.

Local Sites

Local law enforcement agency web sites may be of the form www.ci.(city name).(state abbreviation).us/(police department name or abbreviation or the word police). However, since local agencies vary as to how they enter their agency name (some capitalize their name, some use an abbreviated name, and some use their full name), it is best to leave the agency name off and go to the city web page and then select the police agency from a list of department sites. For example, the Dallas Police Department can be found by using the City of Dallas web site address of www.ci.dallas.tx.us and then selecting the police department from a list of department sites found on the city web page. Similarly, the Tucson Police Department can be found by going to the City of Tucson web site address of www.ci.tucson.az.us and following the same procedure.
